Day 6
Wanting them to lose
Rita's sons wanted revenge for their father, and she prayed that they would die before they became murderers. They did. It is one of the hardest prayers in the calendar.
Somewhere in a long family wound there is a wish for the other person to be shown up, to fail, to finally understand by losing something. Admit it today rather than dressing it as concern.
Begin
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Today’s petition
St. Rita, take the part of me that wants them to lose, and do something with it.
Add your own intention here, in your own words. It is not stored anywhere.
Close
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
