The part you cannot fix
Most stuck situations have one component that is genuinely outside your hands: another person's choice, a market, a body, a decision already made by someone who will not revisit it.
A great deal of energy goes into pretending otherwise, because accepting it feels like giving up. It is not the same thing. Naming the part you cannot move is what frees you to work on the part you can, and it is usually the first honest prayer anyone makes about a long problem.
