Day 1

The little way

Therese died at twenty four having done nothing large. No foundation, no mission, no reform. She spent nine years in a small convent in Normandy doing ordinary work with a deliberate, unspectacular love, and called it the little way.

It is the only spirituality in the calendar designed for people whose lives will not be remarkable, which is most people.

Begin

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Today’s petition

St. Therese, teach me the little way, since the large one is not on offer.

Add your own intention here, in your own words. It is not stored anywhere.

Close

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
