Day 6

Reparation, plainly

The word attached to this devotion is reparation, which sounds like paying a debt and is not. It means making up affection where affection was withheld: turning up, attending, giving the thing that was not given.

It is not a transaction with God. It is what any person does after a long neglect of somebody they love.

Begin

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of thy love. V. Send forth thy Spirit, and they shall be created. R. And thou shalt renew the face of the earth. Let us pray. O God, who hast taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in his consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today’s petition

Sacred Heart, let me make up some of what I have withheld, starting with today.

Add your own intention here, in your own words. It is not stored anywhere.

Close

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
