Day 8

Tuesday eight: the child in his arms

The images have him holding the Christ child, usually with a book. The tradition is that the child was found in his room in the middle of the night by a startled host.

Whatever the history, it fixed him as approachable, which is why people ask him for things they would feel foolish asking anyone else.

Begin

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Today’s petition

St. Anthony, let me ask for the thing I feel foolish asking for.

Add your own intention here, in your own words. It is not stored anywhere.

Close

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
