The Examen

Also known as Daily Examen, Examination of Conscience, Ignatian Examen, examination, evening review, nightly prayer.

1. Give thanks. Lord, show me today as you saw it: begin with what was gift. 2. Ask for light. Holy Spirit, let me see honestly, without fear and without excuses. 3. Review the day. Walk the hours with me: where did I meet you, where did I miss you? 4. Respond. For what was wrong, I am sorry; for what was grace, thank you; say to God what the review stirred. 5. Look to tomorrow. One thing, Lord: name it with me, and give me the grace to do it. Amen.
