St. Andrew Christmas Prayer
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of his blessed Mother. Amen.
Source. Traditional, with a fifteenth century origin claimed. A specific pre-1929 English printing has not been identified, so this is given as the universal traditional formula rather than under a source that cannot be shown.
On the wording. Traditionally prayed fifteen times a day from 30 November to Christmas Eve. Despite the name it is not about St. Andrew: it begins on his feast. Where a source can be shown this library shows it, and where one cannot, it says so.
